It may come as a surprise to many, that it's only recently that some of us discovered that the man Wigan's Gerrard Winstanley House is named after, was the leader of the 17th Century 'Diggers' Movement' and was actually born and lived in the town until he was 21.

All the more surprising you might think since he is widely acknowledged globally as one of the founders of Communism and Socialism.
